Biography: On October 23, 2010 Ashley Caldwell was blessed with the opportunity of representing the state of Ohio and ultimately becoming a role model to others. Ashley grew up in Rural Southeastern Ohio in the small town of Gallipolis. In 2004, Ashley was crowned Gallipolis River Recreation Festival Queen. She also received coveted awards such as Class Clown, Best Smile, and And Most Athletic in High school. She was an active member in 4-H throughout her high school career. After graduating from River Valley High school in 2005, she pursued furthering her education at Marshall University. After 2 years, Ashley decided to chase the passion of hers and transferred to Shawnee State University's Dental Hygeine program. She looks forward to graduation in the spring of 2011 and entering the workforce. Ashley has always been a community volunteer and searches to help others. Starting young, she participated in local blood drives moving into larger roles such as donating time to organizations such as The March of Dimes. Being an Ambassador for the Pink Ribbon Girls is one thing that Ashley is proud of. More recently, Ashley has also volunteered in such events as: Educating children in her local school district on the importance of oral Hygiene, ADA's Give Kids a Smile Day, Shawnee State University's Children's Health and Wellness Fair, Ohio University's Health and Wellness fair, Pleasant Valley Hospital Foundation, Gallipolis River Recreation Festival, and Shawnee State University's annual Bear Run 5K. Ashley gets a sense of fulfillment in giving back to the community around her that has influenced her to be the person she is today.
